Fries Ingredients

Method

Fries Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick). Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry with a clean towel.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or a deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature.

  3. 3

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a handful of potato strips to the hot oil, being cautious not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fries and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  4. 4

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to taste. Toss to ensure they are evenly coated.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the fries hot as a snack or side dish. Enjoy them plain or with your favorite dipping sauce.
