Main Ingredients

Sauce Ingredients

For Frying

Method

Preparation of Chicken

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Cut the boneless chicken breast into bite-sized pieces. If using traditional wings, make sure they are thawed if previously frozen.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, combine the buttermilk and the cut chicken pieces. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Coating Chicken

  1. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 4

    Coat the Chicken

Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture until fully coated.

Frying

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Fry the Chicken

Carefully add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. If using traditional wings, fry for about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 7

    Drain Excess Oil

Use a slotted spoon to remove the chicken from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain the excess oil.

Sauce Preparation and Serving

  1. 8

    Prepare the Sauce

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add the hot sauce and honey, stirring until combined.

  2. 9

    Coat the Chicken with Sauce

In a large bowl, toss the fried chicken pieces (boneless or traditional wings) in the sauce until fully coated.

  3. 10

    Serve

Serve immediately with celery sticks and blue cheese or ranch dressing on the side.
