Method

Brownie Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Melt Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over low heat.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugars

Once melted, remove from heat and mix in 1.5 cups granulated sugar and 0.5 cup brown sugar until well combined.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Stir in 3 large eggs and 2 tsp vanilla extract until smooth.

  5. 5

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 0.5 cup cocoa powder, and 0.5 tsp salt.

  6. 6

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips.

  7. 7

    Bake Brownies

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Salted Caramel Sauce Preparation

  1. 8

    Make Caramel

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add 1 cup granulated sugar and cook, stirring constantly, until it melts and turns a deep amber color.

  2. 9

    Add Butter and Cream

Carefully add 6 tbs unsalted butter and 0.5 cup heavy cream to the caramel. Be cautious as it will bubble vigorously.

  3. 10

    Finish Sauce

Stir in 1 tsp sea salt and remove from heat. Allow the sauce to cool slightly.

Assembling the Dessert

  1. 11

    Add Caramel to Brownies

Once the brownies have cooled for about 10 minutes, pour the salted caramel sauce over the top, spreading evenly.

  2. 12

    Top with Pretzels

Sprinkle 1 cup of pretzel pieces over the caramel, followed by an additional 0.5 tsp sea salt.

  3. 13

    Cool and Serve

Let the brownies cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.
