Queso Dip

Tortilla Chips

Method

Queso Dip Preparation

  1. 1

    Melt the Base

In a medium saucepan, combine the shredded Gouda cheese, milk, and cream cheese over medium heat. Stir continuously until the cheeses are melted and the mixture is smooth.

  2. 2

    Add Flavorings

Once the cheese is melted and creamy, slowly add in the Michigan beer while continuing to stir. This will give the dip a unique flavor. Then, mix in the garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well combined.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Jalapeños

If you like it spicy, add chopped jalapeños to the mix and stir well. Let it simmer on low heat for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Tortilla Chips Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into 6 wedges to create chips.

  2. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 6

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add a handful of tortilla wedges to the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  4. 7

    Season the Chips

While the chips are still warm, sprinkle with salt to taste. Repeat the frying process with the remaining tortilla wedges.
