Method

Preparation of Ribs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ribs

Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better flavor absorption.

  2. 2

    Season the Ribs

In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. Rub this seasoning mix generously over the ribs.

Cooking Process

  1. 3

    Slow Cooking

Place the seasoned ribs in a slow cooker. Pour the MI beer over the ribs. Cover and cook on low for 12 hours or until the meat is tender and falls off the bone.

  2. 4

    Baste with Sauce

During the last hour of cooking, baste the ribs with either the Sweet BBQ Sauce or the New Holland Bourbon Sauce, depending on your preference.

Serving

  1. 5

    Prepare Sides

While the ribs are finishing, prepare your choice of sides such as coleslaw, cornbread, baked beans, or macaroni and cheese.

  2. 6

    Serve

Once the ribs are done, remove them from the slow cooker, let them rest for a few minutes, then serve with your choice of sides.
