Tuna Salad

Method

Tuna Salad

  1. 1

    Prepare tuna

Open the canned tuna and drain thoroughly. Flake the tuna into a medium mixing bowl with a fork, breaking up any large chunks but leaving some texture.

  2. 2

    Mix base

Add the mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, and Dijon mustard to the flaked tuna. Stir until blended and creamy.

  3. 3

    Add vegetables and flavorings

Fold in the diced celery, minced red onion, capers (if using), chopped parsley, and lemon juice. Mix until evenly distributed.

  4. 4

    Season

Season with salt, freshly ground black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Taste and adjust lemon, salt, or mayo to reach desired creaminess and brightness.

  5. 5

Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Tuna salad can be served immediately if short on time, but chilling improves texture and flavor.

To Serve

  1. 6

    Sandwich

Toast bread if desired. Spoon tuna salad onto bread or rolls (about 3/4 cup per sandwich). Add sliced avocado and some mixed greens, top with the other slice of bread and serve.

  2. 7

    Salad

On a plate or in a bowl, arrange mixed salad greens and top with 3/4–1 cup of tuna salad. Garnish with extra parsley and a lemon wedge.

  3. 8

    Crackers or crostini

Spoon small mounds (about 1 tablespoon each) of tuna salad onto crackers or crostini. Garnish with a small caper or parsley leaf and serve as an appetizer.
