For the Fried Chicken Sandwich
Method
Preparation Instructions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt. This will be used to coat the chicken.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Chicken
Remove the marinated chicken from the buttermilk, letting the excess drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken in the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 6
Assemble the Sandwich
Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the oil and let it drain on a paper towel. Toast the brioche buns lightly, then spread mayonnaise on the bottom bun. Place the fried chicken on top, followed by pickles, and then top with the other half of the bun.
- 7
Serve
Serve the fried chicken sandwich hot and enjoy!
