COLD ZAKUSKI/холодные закуски

Method

COLD ZAKUSKI/холодные закуски

  1. 1

    Prepare the Borodinsky Toast

Lightly toast the Borodinsky bread slices until they are golden and crisp. This will provide a sturdy base for the toppings.

  2. 2

    Make the Druzhba Cheese Pashtet

In a bowl, combine the Druzhba cheese with softened butter. Grate the carrot and add it to the mixture. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix until you achieve a smooth consistency.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Cod Liver

Drain the cod liver from its can, if using canned. Gently mash it in a bowl with a fork until it’s spreadable but still has some texture.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Toasts

Spread a layer of the Druzhba cheese pashtet over each slice of toasted Borodinsky bread. Then, add a generous portion of the mashed cod liver on top.

  5. 5

    Garnish

Top each toast with a few slices of pickled onions and a sprinkle of freshly grated horseradish. Finally, garnish with fresh dill.

  6. 6

    Serve

Arrange the toasts on a serving platter and enjoy immediately as a delightful cold zakuski.
