Base - Ice Cream
Sauces / Drizzles (choose up to 3)
Toppings (pick up to 3)
Optional garnish
Method
Prepare serving
- 1
Chill the serving bowl or sundae glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes to keep the ice cream from melting quickly.
- 2
Set out chosen sauces and toppings within easy reach so you can assemble quickly.
Scoop ice cream
- 3
Add sauces
- 4
Choose up to three sauces from the Sauces section. Drizzle approximately 1–2 tablespoons each over the scoops in thin streams, covering the top and allowing some to run down the sides for visual appeal. If using hot fudge, warm it slightly so it pours easily (10–15 seconds in the microwave at 10–20% power).
Add toppings
- 5
Choose up to three toppings from the Toppings section. Evenly sprinkle or place them on top of the sauced ice cream so each scoop has some topping. Example combinations: hot fudge + chopped peanuts + whipped cream; caramel + crushed Oreo + cherry; strawberry sauce + fresh strawberries + sprinkles.
- 6
If using whipped cream, pipe or dollop about 2 tablespoons on top as a finishing touch.
- 7
Place the maraschino cherry on the highest point of the sundae and add the wafer or cone piece at a slight angle for garnish, if using.
Serve
- 8
Serve immediately with a long teaspoon. If the sundae will sit for a short time (under 5 minutes), keep it on a chilled surface to slow melting.
