Vodka Cocktail Base

Method

Vodka Cocktail Base

  1. 1

Chilled Straight (Neat or On the Rocks)

If serving neat: chill the vodka bottle in the freezer for several hours. Pour 2 oz chilled vodka into a chilled shot glass or small rocks glass. If serving on the rocks: fill a rocks glass with ice (about 4–6 cubes), pour 2 oz vodka over the ice and serve with a lime wedge or lemon twist.

  2. 2

    Simple Highball

Fill a highball or Collins glass with ice. Pour 2 oz vodka over the ice. Top with 4 oz club soda or tonic for a longer, lighter drink. Stir gently once with a bar spoon to combine. Garnish with a lime wedge or lemon twist.

Optional Flavoring & Variations

  1. 3

    Screwdriver (Vodka + Orange Juice)

Fill a highball glass with ice. Add 2 oz vodka and 4 oz orange juice. Stir gently to combine and garnish with an orange slice if desired.

  2. 4

    Simple Bloody Mary Base (non-spicy)

Fill a highball glass with ice. Add 2 oz vodka and 4 oz tomato juice. Stir gently. If you want to keep it non-spicy, skip additional seasonings; garnish with a celery stalk or lemon wedge.

  3. 5

    Light Dilution for Smoothness

If you prefer vodka slightly diluted (common when drinking neat), add 1 oz very cold water to 2 oz vodka in a chilled glass. Stir once and taste — this opens aromas and softens alcohol burn.

Garnish & Serving

  1. 6

Garnish your chosen preparation with the lime wedge or lemon twist. For cocktails with mixers, present with a straw and serve immediately. For neat servings, serve in a chilled glass without ice if preferred.
