Method
Cocktail
- 1
Chill glass
Place the rocks glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.
- 2
Combine ingredients
In a mixing glass or pint glass, add 2 oz Old Forester bourbon or rye, 0.25 oz simple syrup, 2 dashes Angostura bitters and 1 dash orange bitters.
- 3
Add ice and stir
Fill the mixing glass with 4 large ice cubes. Stir gently and steadily for 20β30 seconds (about 20β30 full strokes) until the mixture is well chilled, slightly diluted, and visually glossy.
- 4
Prepare serving glass
Dump the ice water from the chilled rocks glass (if used) and add one large clear ice cube or leave the glass empty to serve neat. Alternatively, strain over fresh large ice.
- 5
Strain
Using a julep or hawthorne strainer (or the mixing glass), strain the stirred cocktail into the chilled rocks glass over the fresh ice cube or neat.
Garnish & Finish
- 6
Garnish
Thread 2 blue cheese-stuffed olives (or 2 regular green olives) onto a cocktail pick. Rest the pick across the rim of the glass or lay it on top of the ice.
- 7
Serve
Express a subtle orange aroma by briefly holding the cocktail near your nose before serving. Serve immediately.
