Base Cocktail

Sweetener (optional)

Method

Prepare Glass

  1. 1

    Chill and add ice

Choose a large wine glass or stemmed glass. Fill the glass with a large ice cube or several large chilled ice cubes to chill while you assemble the cocktail.

Mix Cocktail

  1. 2

    Combine base ingredients

In a mixing glass or shaker filled with a few ice cubes, pour 2 oz Empress 1908 Gin and 0.5 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice. If you prefer a slightly sweeter spritz, add 0.25 oz simple syrup. Stir briskly for about 10 seconds to chill and dilute slightly.

  2. 3

    Strain into glass

Discard or keep the chilling ice in the serving glass. Strain the chilled gin-lemon mixture into the prepared wine glass over the ice.

  3. 4

    Top with sparkling elements

Carefully pour 3 oz chilled Prosecco (or other dry sparkling wine) into the glass, then add 1 oz chilled soda water to lengthen the drink and create a light effervescence. Pour gently to preserve bubbles and maintain the layered appearance.

Garnish & Finish

  1. 5

Express a lemon twist (if using) over the cocktail to release oils, then drop the twist or a thin lemon wheel into the glass. Float an edible flower or place a small sprig of thyme on top for aroma and visual contrast. Give the drink a gentle stir once or twice to integrate flavors without flattening the bubbles.
