Chicken Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Season the chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.
- 2
Breading Station
Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
- 3
Bread the Chicken
Dip each chicken breast first in the flour, then in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- 4
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the breaded chicken breasts for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Bacon Jam
- 5
Cook the Bacon
In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and let drain on paper towels.
- 6
- 7
Make the Jam
Add the cooked bacon back into the skillet along with brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, and black pepper. Stir well and cook for about 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
Assembly
- 8
Top with Cheese
Place the fried chicken breasts on a serving platter. Spoon the bacon jam generously over each piece, then sprinkle with shredded smoked Gouda cheese.
- 9
Melt the Cheese
Optionally, place the chicken under the broiler for 2-3 minutes to melt the cheese slightly before serving.
