Burger Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Turkey Patty
In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- 2
Shape the Patties
Divide the turkey mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.
- 3
- 4
Grill the Patties
Place the turkey patties on the grill and cook for about 5-6 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
Toppings Preparation
- 5
Cook the Bacon
While the patties are grilling, cook the apple wood bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Prepare the Avocado and Tomato
Slice the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh. Slice the tomato into thick rounds.
- 7
Assemble the Burger
Once the patties are done, place a slice of pepper jack cheese on each patty and let it melt for about a minute. Toast the burger buns on the grill for about 1 minute. Layer the bottom bun with lettuce, followed by the turkey patty, bacon, avocado slices, and tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.
