Chili Base

Spices and Seasoning

Method

Chili Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Meat

In a large pot over medium heat, combine the ground beef and ground pork. Cook until browned, stirring occasionally, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

Add chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced bell pepper to the pot. Sauté until the onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, kidney beans, and black beans into the pot. Mix well.

Seasoning the Chili

  1. 4

    Add Spices

Sprinkle in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir to combine all the flavors.

  2. 5

    Simmer

Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Serving

  1. 6

    Prepare Toppings

While the chili is simmering, prepare any optional toppings like sour cream, chopped green onions, and shredded cheddar cheese.

  2. 7

    Serve

Ladle the chili into bowls and top with your choice of optional toppings. Enjoy your Award Winning Chili!
