Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, paprika, cumin, salt, black pepper, chopped parsley, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well to create a marinade.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Fish

Rinse the whole tilapia under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels. Place the tilapia in a large dish or resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over it. Ensure the fish is evenly coated. Cover the dish or seal the bag, and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.

Grilling

  1. 3

    Prepare the Grill

Preheat your charcoal grill to medium-high heat. If using a charcoal grill, allow the coals to burn until they are covered with white ash.

  2. 4

    Grill the Tilapia

Remove the tilapia from the marinade and let any excess marinade drip off. Place the fish directly on the grill grates. Grill for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Use a spatula to carefully turn the fish halfway through cooking.

Serving

  1. 5

    Serve the Tilapia

Remove the grilled tilapia from the grill and place it on a serving platter. Garnish with lemon wedges and additional chopped parsley. Serve immediately.
