Prep Steaks
Remove the New York strip steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

Season Steaks
Season both sides of the steaks generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Heat Oil
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.

Cook Steaks
Add the steaks to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.

Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Rinse the long grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt.

Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.

Open the can of black beans and drain excess liquid.
