Ice Cream Base

Chocolate Swirl

Strawberry Swirl

Method

Ice Cream Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Base

In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Whisk together until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

  2. 2

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours or until thoroughly chilled.

  3. 3

    Churn the Ice Cream

Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

Chocolate Swirl Preparation

  1. 4

    Make Chocolate Sauce

In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and water. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Allow to cool.

Strawberry Swirl Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare Strawberry Sauce

In a blender or food processor, combine fresh strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Blend until smooth. Pour into a small bowl and set aside.

Assembling Neapolitan Ice Cream

  1. 6

    Layer the Flavors

Once the ice cream base is churned, scoop one third into a loaf pan. Drizzle with half of the chocolate sauce and half of the strawberry sauce. Repeat the layers with the second third of the ice cream, remaining sauces, and top with the final third of the ice cream.

  2. 7

    Freeze

Cover the loaf pan with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until solid.

  3. 8

    Serve

Once frozen, scoop the Neapolitan ice cream into bowls or cones. Enjoy your homemade treat!
