Method
Cooking the Pasta

Boil the Pasta
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add 2 cups of elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 7-9 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
Preparing the Cheese Sauce

Add Milk
Slowly add 2 cups of milk to the roux, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.

Incorporate Cheeses
Stir in 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese and 1 cup of cream cheese until fully melted and smooth.

Combining and Baking

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring well to coat all the pasta.

Prepare for Baking (optional)
If desired, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mac and cheese to a greased baking dish and top with 1 cup of breadcrumbs and 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.
Serving

Remove from the oven (if baked) and let cool slightly. Serve the creamy mac and cheese warm, and enjoy!
