Method
Cooking Pasta
- 1
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.
- 2
Cook Fettuccine
Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 10-12 minutes, until al dente.
- 3
Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside. Reserve about 1 cup of the pasta water for later use.
Making Alfredo Sauce
- 4
Melt Butter
In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter.
- 5
Add Garlic
Once the butter is melted, add 4 minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- 6
Add Heavy Cream
Slowly pour in 2 cups of heavy cream and stir well. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- 7
Incorporate Parmesan Cheese
Gradually whisk in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
- 8
Season the Sauce
Add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper to the sauce. Mix well to incorporate.
- 9
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked fettuccine to the sauce, tossing to coat the pasta thoroughly. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water until the desired consistency is reached.
Serving
- 10
Garnish and Serve
Transfer the Fettuccine Alfredo to serving plates and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve immediately.
