Pizza Dough

Method

Making the Pizza Dough

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until the dough starts to come together.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your wood-fired pizza oven or regular oven to 475°F (245°C).

  2. 7

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball, then roll out each ball on a floured surface into a circle about 12 inches in diameter.

  3. 8

    Add Sauce and Toppings

Place the rolled-out dough on a pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread ½ cup of tomato sauce evenly over each pizza base. Add mozzarella cheese, fresh basil leaves, and sliced pepperoni on top.

  4. 9

    Drizzle with Olive Oil

Drizzle ½ tablespoon of olive oil over the top of each pizza.

  5. 10

    Bake the Pizza

Transfer the pizza to the hot oven and bake for about 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

  6. 11

    Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a minute, slice, and serve hot.
