Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water (105°F-115°F) and sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until the ingredients begin to come together.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Form into a ball.

  4. 4

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your wood-fired pizza oven to around 700°F (370°C) or your conventional oven to the highest setting.

  2. 6

    Shape the Pizza Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 2 equal portions. Roll out each portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness.

  3. 7

    Add the Sauce and Toppings

Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce over the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, fresh basil leaves, and any additional toppings you desire such as pepperoni.

  4. 8

    Bake the Pizza

Transfer the assembled pizza to the hot pizza oven or a baking sheet for a conventional oven. Bake for about 8-10 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  5. 9

    Finish and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven and drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before slicing. Serve hot and enjoy!
