Ice Cream

Method

Ice Cream Preparation

  1. 1

    Scoop the Ice Cream

Using an ice cream scoop, place 1 cup of vanilla ice cream into each serving bowl.

Hot Fudge Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Hot Fudge Sauce

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, and 1 cup of heavy cream. Stir over medium heat until the ingredients are well combined.

  2. 3

    Add Butter and Vanilla

Once the mixture is hot and begins to bubble, add 1 stick of butter and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Stir continuously until the butter is melted and the sauce is smooth.

  3. 4

    Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and let the hot fudge sauce simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside.

Whipped Cream Preparation

  1. 5

    Whip the Cream

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 2 tbs of powdered sugar, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the cream on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Sundae

Pour the warm hot fudge sauce over the scoops of vanilla ice cream in each bowl.

  2. 7

    Top with Whipped Cream

Add a generous dollop of whipped cream on top of the hot fudge.

  3. 8

    Add Toppings

If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts and place a maraschino cherry on top of each sundae.
