Cooking Steps
- 1
Prepare the Rice
Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
- 2
Cook the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a bamboo steamer or a rice cooker for about 30 minutes, or until tender and sticky.
- 3
Prepare the Coconut Sauce
In a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat gently over low to medium heat until the sugar dissolves, but do not bring to a boil.
- 4
Mix Rice with Coconut Sauce
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a mixing bowl and pour about 3/4 of the coconut sauce over the rice. Stir well to combine and let it sit for about 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- 5
Slice the Mango
While the rice is resting, peel and slice the ripe mangoes into thin pieces.
- 6
Serve
To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, top with sliced mango, and drizzle with the remaining coconut sauce. Garnish with sesame seeds or mung beans.
