Steak Marinade

Method

Marinating the Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a mixing bowl, combine whiskey, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, brown sugar, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the flank steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, making sure it is evenly coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.

Preparing the Salad

  1. 3

    Cook the Green Beans

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the trimmed green beans and cook for 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.

  2. 4

    Grill the Steak

Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Grill the steak for 5-7 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

  3. 5

    Assemble the Salad

In a large bowl, combine the cooked green beans, diced avocado, sliced red onion, chopped basil, halved cherry tomatoes, and crumbled feta cheese. Toss gently to combine.

  4. 6

    Dress the Salad

Drizzle the lemon juice over the salad and season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss again to coat the ingredients evenly.

  5. 7

    Serve

Slice the grilled steak against the grain into thin strips. Arrange the salad on plates and top with the sliced steak. Serve immediately.
