Method
Prep Rim & Glass
- 1
Salt the rim
Choose a rocks glass (old fashioned). Run the lime wedge around the outer rim of the glass to moisten it evenly. Pour the coarse salt onto a small plate, then press and rotate the moistened rim into the salt to create an even salted edge. Set the glass aside.
Mix Cocktail
- 2
Fill a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice (about 1 cup).
- 3
Add 2 oz Sauza Hornitos tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz orange liqueur, and 0.5 tsp simple syrup (use only if you prefer a slightly sweeter drink) to the shaker.
- 4
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and well-chilled. This dilutes and chills the drink to the correct balance.
- 5
Fill the prepared rocks glass with fresh ice (large cubes or sphere preferred). Strain the shaken margarita over the ice into the glass.
Finish & Serve
- 6
Garnish with the remaining lime wedge on the rim or floated on the drink. Serve immediately.
