Sparkling Iron Horse Highball (Single Serving)
Batch for a small party (6 servings)
Method
Classic Iron Horse Cocktail (Single Serving)
- 1
- 2
Add 2 oz Iron Horse bourbon, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz honey simple syrup, 0.25 oz fresh ginger syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker.
- 3
Fill the shaker with ice (large cubes are preferable). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and the mixture is well-chilled and slightly diluted.
- 4
Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass over one large ice cube or into a chilled coupe if you prefer it neat. This cocktail can be served on the rocks or up.
- 5
Sparkling Iron Horse Highball (Single Serving)
- 6
Fill a highball or Collins glass with cubed ice.
- 7
Pour in 1.5 oz Iron Horse bourbon and 0.5 oz fresh lime juice. If you prefer slightly sweeter, add 0.25 oz simple syrup.
- 8
Top with 3 oz chilled ginger beer. Stir gently once or twice to combine and avoid flattening the ginger beer's carbonation.
- 9
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lime wedge or wheel. Serve with a straw if desired.
Batch for a small party (6 servings)
- 10
Make the batch base
In a pitcher or mixing vessel, combine 12 oz Iron Horse bourbon, 4.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 3 oz honey simple syrup, 1.5 oz fresh ginger syrup, and 12 dashes Angostura bitters. Stir gently to combine.
- 11
Chill and portion
Cover and chill the batch base in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to let flavors meld. When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice.
- 12
Pour approximately 3 oz of the batch base into each rocks glass over ice (adjust to glass size). For a sparkling variation, pour 2.5 oz of base and top with 3–4 oz ginger beer per glass.
- 13
Garnish and serve
Garnish each glass with a lemon wheel or twist. Offer extra ginger beer on the side for guests who want more fizz.
