Fries
Method
Fries Preparation
- 1
Cut the Potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into evenly sized strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Place the cut fries into a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
- 4
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the soaked fries to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 5
Drain and Season
Once cooked, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while they are still hot.
