Method

Beanie Body

  1. 1

    Select beanie

Choose the knit beanie in the customer's selected color (Charcoal, Ocean Blue, Blue-Grey, or Black). Inspect for any defects or loose threads and trim as needed.

  2. 2

    Positioning

Turn the beanie inside out slightly at the front brim to create a smooth flat surface for patch placement. Identify the ideal placement slightly above the brim center (about 1.5–2 inches above the bottom edge when worn). Mark the spot lightly with a removable fabric marker or use a pin through the knit to indicate center.

Embroidered Patch

  1. 3

    Prepare patch backing

Cut a small piece of lightweight woven interfacing about 1/4 inch smaller than the patch outline. Apply the interfacing to the back of the embroidered patch following the interfacing manufacturer's instructions (iron-on or sew-in). This stabilizes the patch for sewing onto the stretchy knit.

  2. 4

    Optional adhesive step

If using fabric glue, apply a thin, even layer to the interfacing-backed patch back. Press the patch onto the marked position on the beanie and allow glue to set for 5–10 minutes (or as directed). This step holds the patch in place for sewing and is optional but recommended for bulky knits.

Sewing & Finishing

  1. 5

    Thread needle

Cut a length of matching polyester thread about 18–24 inches long. Thread the needle and tie a small knot at the end of the thread to secure.

  2. 6

    Pin and align patch

If not using glue, align the patch on the marked spot and secure with pins or fabric clips around the edges, spacing 4–6 evenly. Ensure the patch lies flat against the knit without puckering.

  3. 7

    Hand-sew patch

Using a small whip stitch or running stitch, sew the patch perimeter to the beanie. Take small, even stitches (about 1.5–2 mm) through the patch edge and the knit fabric, keeping tension gentle to avoid stretching the beanie. Sew all the way around the patch, spacing stitches about 2–3 mm apart. For extra security, backstitch at the start and finish.

  4. 8

    Trim and tidy

After finishing sewing, tie off the thread on the inside of the beanie with a secure knot. Trim thread tails and remove any pins. If interfacing edges are visible inside, trim them flush but not so close as to weaken the attachment.

  5. 9

    Quality check

Turn the beanie right-side out and inspect the patch alignment and stitch quality. Ensure there are no loose threads, puckers, or gaps. Try the beanie on a display head or measure placement again (1.5–2 inches above brim). Press lightly with hands to smooth knit.

Packaging (Curbside Pickup Ready)

  1. 10

    Fold and wrap

Gently fold the beanie so the patch faces outward, place it on a sheet of tissue paper, and wrap once to protect the patch embroidery.

  2. 11

    Bag and label

Place the wrapped beanie in a kraft paper bag or small box. Add the pickup label with order information and any care instructions (hand wash cold, lay flat to dry).

  3. 12

    Store for pickup

Keep the packaged beanie in the designated curbside pickup area, separated by order number. Note on the order that this item is for curbside pickup only.
