Method
Preparation of Tater Tots
- 1
Cook the Tater Tots
Preheat your oven according to the package instructions for the frozen tater tots. Spread the tater tots evenly on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
Cheese Sauce Preparation
- 2
Make the Cheese Sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until it forms a paste. Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to low and add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until melted and smooth. Season with salt and black pepper.
Topping Preparation
- 3
Prepare Flash-Fried Jalapeño
Heat oil in a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pot to 375°F (190°C). Carefully add the sliced jalapeños and fry for about 1-2 minutes until they are crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 4
Assemble the Loaded Tots
Once the tater tots are cooked and crispy, remove them from the oven. Top with cheese sauce, black beans, pico de gallo, and a drizzle of chili aioli. Finish with the crispy jalapeños and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro.
