Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until well incorporated, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Shape Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape them into round patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side.

  3. 5

    Flip and Add Cheese

Flip the patties and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

Prepare Toppings and Assemble

  1. 6

    Slice Toppings

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato, onion, and prepare the lettuce and pickles.

  2. 7

    Toast the Buns

If desired, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

  3. 8

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the burger patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, onion slices, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
