Method
Preparing the Fries
- 1
Fry the Potatoes
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 175°C (350°F). Add the frozen French fries in batches and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per batch.
- 2
Drain and Season
Remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels. While still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste and set aside.
Making the Chili
- 3
Cook the Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- 4
- 5
Combine Ingredients
Stir in the canned kidney beans, canned diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and let it simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Assembling the Dish
- 6
Layer the Fries
On a large serving platter, arrange the crispy fries in an even layer.
- 7
Top with Chili
Spoon the chili mixture generously over the fries.
- 8
Add Cheese
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the hot chili, allowing it to melt.
- 9
Garnish
Top with dollops of sour cream and sprinkle with chopped green onions before serving.
