Method

Beef Patties

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, making them slightly larger than the burger buns.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

Toppings

  1. 4

    Caramelize the Onions

Slice the onion and heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Tomato

While the onions are caramelizing, slice the tomato into even slices.

  3. 6

    Assemble the Burger

Once the patties are cooked, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and let it melt for about a minute. On the bottom half of the burger bun, layer the lettuce, the cheesy patty, caramelized onions, and tomato slices. Top with the other half of the bun.

Buns

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns (optional)

If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until they are lightly golden.
