Cheese Curds Preparation

Prepare the Cheese Curds
Start by patting the Ellsworth Cooperative cheese curds dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

Mix the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, oregano, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Batter the Cheese Curds
Dip each cheese curd into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated.

Fry the Cheese Curds
Carefully place the battered cheese curds into the hot oil in batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Prepare the Dipping Sauces
In small serving bowls, pour the applesauce and roasted red pepper sambal. These will be served alongside the cheese curds for dipping.
