Preparation Instructions
- 1
Make Hibiscus Tea
In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and add 1 cup of dried hibiscus flowers. Allow to steep for about 15 minutes.
- 2
Strain the Tea
After steeping, strain the hibiscus tea through a fine mesh strainer into a clean container to remove the flowers. You should have a vibrant red liquid.
- 3
Sweeten the Tea
While the tea is still warm, stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar until completely dissolved. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature.
- 4
Mix with Gin
In a large pitcher or bowl, combine the cooled hibiscus tea with 2 cups of Pinckney Bend Gin and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Stir well to combine.
- 5
Adjust Sweetness (Optional)
Taste the mixture and add simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink. Stir again to mix thoroughly.
- 6
Serve
Pour the hibiscus gin into glasses filled with ice. Garnish with a slice of lemon or a few dried hibiscus flowers if desired. Enjoy!
