Mac & Cheese Base

Method

Preparing Mac & Cheese

  1. 1

    Cook the Macaroni

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden. Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking until the mixture thickens and bubbles, about 3-5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add the Cheese

Remove the pot from heat and stir in the shredded white cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and black pepper.

  4. 4

    Combine with Macaroni

Fold the drained macaroni into the cheese sauce until evenly coated. Let cool slightly.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 5

    Mix in Bacon

Once the mac and cheese has cooled slightly, fold in the chopped bacon and mix well.

  2. 6

    Prepare for Baking

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a mini muffin tin with cooking spray.

  3. 7

    Form the Bites

In a bowl, mix the bread crumbs with ranch dressing. Take a tablespoon of the mac and cheese mixture and press it into each muffin cup, then sprinkle the ranch bread crumbs on top.

  4. 8

    Add the Egg

Drizzle a small amount of beaten egg over each mac and cheese bite to help hold it together.

Baking

  1. 9

    Bake

Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.

  2. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove the bites from the oven and let them cool in the muffin tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a serving platter. Serve warm.
