Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Generously season the 8 oz filet mignon on both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil and allow it to heat until shimmering.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Place the seasoned filet in the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare. Adjust cooking time for desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before serving.

Steak Butter Preparation

  1. 5

    Make the Steak Butter

In a bowl, combine the unsalted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, lemon juice, and salt. Mix until well blended.

  2. 6

    Chill the Butter

Transfer the butter mixture onto a piece of plastic wrap, form it into a log, and refrigerate until firm.

Starch Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare the Mashed Potatoes

Cook the mashed potatoes according to package instructions or prepare fresh mashed potatoes. Serve warm.

Vegetable Preparation

  1. 8

    Cook the Asparagus

Steam or sauté the asparagus in a small amount of water or olive oil for 5-7 minutes until tender but still crisp.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Serve the Dish

Place the rested filet on a plate, top with a slice of steak butter, and serve alongside the mashed potatoes and asparagus.
