Ingredients for Greater Good 'Pulp Daddy' Craft Beer

Method

Brewing Directions for Greater Good 'Pulp Daddy' Craft Beer

  1. 1

    Mashing Process

In a large brew kettle, heat 5 liters of water to approximately 160°F (70°C). Add the Pale Malt and Flaked Wheat to the kettle. Stir well to ensure there are no dry clumps. Maintain the temperature at 150-155°F (65-68°C) for 60 minutes to convert the starches to sugars.

  2. 2

    Sparging

After mashing, sparge with hot water (around 170°F or 77°C) to rinse the grains. Collect the wort in your brew kettle until you have about 5-6 liters of liquid.

  3. 3

    Boiling the Wort

Bring the wort to a boil. Once boiling, add the Citrus Hops. Boil for 60 minutes, adding any additional hops as desired for flavor and aroma during the last 15 minutes of the boil.

  4. 4

    Cooling the Wort

After the boil, cool the wort rapidly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches about 70°F (21°C).

  5. 5

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Sprinkle the packet of American Ale Yeast on top. Seal the vessel with an airlock and let it ferment in a cool, dark place for 1-2 weeks.

  6. 6

    Adding Orange Zest

During the last few days of fermentation, add the orange zest to the fermenter to infuse citrus flavors into the beer.

  7. 7

    Bottling

After fermentation is complete, dissolve 3 tablespoons of corn sugar in a small amount of boiling water to create a simple syrup. Add this syrup to the bottling bucket, then siphon the beer into the bucket, mixing gently to avoid oxidation. Bottle the beer in sanitized bottles and cap them.

  8. 8

    Conditioning

Let the bottled beer condition at room temperature for 1-2 weeks to carbonate, then chill in the refrigerator before serving.
