Method
Glass Prep & Garnish
- 1
Prepare the glass rim
Pour the coarse salt onto a small plate. Take a lime wedge and rub the lime around the outer rim of a chilled coupe or rocks glass (or a standard margarita glass) to moisten the rim. Roll the moistened rim gently in the salt until evenly coated. Tap off any excess salt.

- 3
Reserve a fresh lime wedge for garnish and set aside.
Mixing & Serving the Margarita
- 4
Add 2 oz Cuervo Silver Tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz orange liqueur (Cointreau or triple sec), and 0.5 oz agave syrup into a cocktail shaker.
- 5
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) until the shaker is roughly three-quarters full.
- 6
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10β15 seconds. You want the exterior of the shaker to become very cold and slightly frosted, indicating proper dilution and chilling.
- 7
If serving on the rocks: strain the margarita into the prepared salt-rimmed glass over fresh ice. If serving up: double-strain (using a fine mesh strainer if available) into the chilled, salted glass without ice.
- 8
Garnish with the reserved lime wedge on the rim or floated in the drink. Optionally, express a lime peel over the cocktail for a bright aroma before garnishing.
- 9
Serve immediately.
