Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare espresso

Brew a fresh shot of espresso (about 1 oz). Let it rest for 15–20 seconds off the heat so it is hot but not scalding; the small cooling period preserves crema for shaking.

2

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add the Tres Generaciones Blanco tequila (2 oz), coffee liqueur (1 oz), freshly brewed espresso (1 oz), and simple syrup (0.5 oz).

3

Add ice and dry shake (optional)

Add 6 ice cubes to the shaker. For a frothier texture, first seal and shake vigorously without ice for 8–10 seconds (dry shake) to emulsify the espresso and create crema.

4

Wet shake

If you did a dry shake, add the ice now (if you didn't dry shake, ice is already in). Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted on the outside.

5

Strain

Double-strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove ice shards and espresso solids, producing a smooth, velvety drink.

Garnish

6

Float 3 coffee beans on top of the crema as a classic espresso cocktail garnish. Express an orange twist over the surface to release oils, then wipe the rim with the twist and drop it into the glass if desired.
