Method
Main Cocktail
Combine and chill
Add 2 oz Old Forester Rye, 1 oz sweet vermouth, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, and 1 dash orange bitters into a mixing glass or large mixing vessel.
Strain
Using a julep or Hawthorne strainer, strain the chilled Manhattan into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass (or a rocks glass if preferred). Avoid over-pouring ice into the serving glass.
Garnish & Finish
Express orange oil
Hold the orange peel with the outer (zest) side facing down over the cocktail. Give it a firm twist or squeeze to express the oils across the surface of the drink, then run the rim of the glass with the peel to add aroma. Optionally discard the peel or drop it in.
Add cherry
Drop one Luxardo or Amarena cherry into the cocktail as a garnish.
Serve immediately while chilled.
