Milkbread

Caramelized Leeks

5 Spice Pickled Apples

Method

Milkbread Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Slowly add the warm milk and melted butter, mixing until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  3. 3

    Let it Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  4. 4

    Shape the Bread

Once risen, punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.

  5. 5

    Final Rise

Cover and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.

  6. 6

    Bake the Bread

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the loaf for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Caramelized Leeks Preparation

  1. 7

    Cook the Leeks

In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced leeks and salt, and cook, stirring frequently, until they are caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.

Prosciutto XO Preparation

  1. 8

    Prepare the XO

In a pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the chopped prosciutto, minced garlic, and chili flakes. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the prosciutto is crispy and aromatic.

5 Spice Pickled Apples Preparation

  1. 9

    Pickle the Apples

In a bowl, combine rice vinegar, sugar, five-spice powder, and salt. Add the sliced apples and toss to coat. Let sit for at least 30 minutes to pickle.
