Base / Ice Cream

Method

Preparation (common)

  1. 1

    Chill glass (optional)

Place serving glasses in the freezer for 10–15 minutes while preparing the shake to keep it cold longer.

  2. 2

Remove vanilla soft serve from freezer and let sit 1–2 minutes so it's scoopable but still firm. This prevents a watery shake.

Vanilla Classic

  1. 3

Add 3 cups of slightly firm vanilla soft serve to the blender.

  2. 4

Pour in 1 cup whole milk and add 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. If you prefer sweeter, add up to 1 tsp granulated sugar.

  3. 5

Pulse the blender 3–4 times to incorporate, then blend on medium-high for 8–12 seconds. Aim for a thick, creamy texture — do not over-blend or it will thin out.

  4. 6

Stop and check consistency. If too thick, add 1–2 tbsp milk and pulse once more. If too thin, add 1/4 cup more soft serve and briefly pulse.

  5. 7

Pour into chilled serving glass, top with 2 tbsp whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. Serve immediately with a straw and thick spoon.

Chocolate Classic

  1. 8

For chocolate, add 3 cups vanilla soft serve to the blender.

  2. 9

Add 1 cup whole milk and 3 tbsp chocolate syrup. If you want an intensely chocolatey shake, add an extra tablespoon of syrup or 1 tsp cocoa powder.

  3. 10

Pulse 3–4 times, then blend on medium-high for 8–12 seconds until smooth and thick.

  4. 11

Taste and adjust sweetness or chocolate intensity by adding up to 1 tsp granulated sugar or more syrup. If too thin, add 1/4 cup more soft serve; if too thick, add 1–2 tbsp milk and pulse.

  5. 12

Pour into chilled glass. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder. Serve immediately.

Strawberry Classic

  1. 13

For strawberry, place 3 cups vanilla soft serve in the blender.

  2. 14

Add 1 cup whole milk and 3 tbsp strawberry syrup or puree. If using fresh puree and it's not sweet enough, add 1 tsp simple syrup or 1 tsp granulated sugar.

  3. 15

Pulse 3–4 times, then blend on medium-high for 8–12 seconds until uniformly pink and thick. If you prefer bits of fruit, pulse less.

  4. 16

Adjust consistency: if too thick add 1–2 tbsp milk; if too thin, add 1/4 cup more soft serve.

  5. 17

Pour into chilled glass, top with whipped cream and fresh sliced strawberries. Garnish with a cherry if desired and serve immediately.

Cleanup & Tips

  1. 18

Rinse blender immediately after use to prevent soft serve from hardening on the blades. Use warm water and a drop of dish soap, pulse, then rinse.

  2. 19

For consistent portioning: 3 cups soft serve + 1 cup milk makes two 12–16 oz rich shakes (serves 2). Adjust ratios for single servings.
