Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with muffin liners or grease it with non-stick spray.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

  5. 5

    Add Chocolate Chips (Optional)

If you are using chocolate chips, fold them into the batter gently.

Baking

  1. 6

    Fill Muffin Tins

Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tins, filling each cup about 3/4 full to allow room for rising.

  2. 7

    Bake Muffins

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  3. 8

    Cool Muffins

Remove the muffins from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

  4. 9

    Dust with Powdered Sugar (Optional)

If desired, dust the cooled muffin tops with powdered sugar before serving.
