Method
Cocktail Base
- 1
Combine spirits and modifiers
In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker, add 2 oz gin, 0.5 oz dry vermouth, 0.5 oz cherry liqueur, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 oz honey simple syrup.
- 2
Add bitters
Add 2 dashes orange bitters and 1 dash Angostura bitters to the mixing glass.
Aromatic & Bittering
- 3
These bitters are already added to the base; they provide citrus lift (orange) and warm spice (Angostura). No separate preparation is required.
Shake & Strain
- 4
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with about 1 cup of ice, cap it, and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the exterior shows condensation.
- 5
Double-strain into glass
Using a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer (or both), double-strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass to remove small ice shards and any pulp from the lemon.
Finish & Garnish
- 6
Express the lemon twist over the top of the cocktail to release its oils, wipe the rim with the twist, and drop it into the glass or rest it on the rim. Add one Luxardo cherry on a pick and place it in the drink.
- 7
Serve immediately. The Broad Street balances botanical gin with a subtle cherry sweetness, bright lemon, and layered bitters.
