Salad Base

Method

Salad Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mixed Greens

Rinse the mixed greens thoroughly under cold water. Shake off excess water or use a salad spinner to dry them. Place the greens in a large salad bowl.

Crouton Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Croutons

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the bread into small cubes (about 1-inch pieces). In a mixing bowl, toss the bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, and salt until evenly coated. Spread the croutons on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, stirring halfway through. Remove from the oven and let cool.

Dressing Preparation

  1. 3

    Make the Caesar Dressing

In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, grated Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and black pepper. Whisk together until the dressing is smooth and well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Salad

Add the homemade croutons to the bowl with mixed greens. Pour the Caesar dressing over the salad and toss gently to coat the greens and croutons evenly. Top with shaved Parmesan cheese for garnish. Serve immediately.
