Method

Prepare the Meat Sauce

  1. 1

    Cook the Ground Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Vegetables

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 3

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Prepare the Cheese Mixture

  1. 4

    Mix Ricotta and Egg

In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese and egg. Mix until smooth and well blended.

  2. 5

    Add Parmesan and Parsley

Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley until evenly combined.

Assemble the Lasagna

  1. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Place 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a third of the mozzarella cheese, and a layer of meat sauce. Repeat the layers once more.

  2. 7

    Finish with Toppings

Top with the remaining lasagna noodles, the rest of the meat sauce, and the remaining mozzarella cheese. Cover with aluminum foil.

Bake the Lasagna

  1. 8

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 9

    Bake

Bake the lasagna covered with foil for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  3. 10

    Cool and Serve

Allow the lasagna to cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
