Onion Rings

Blam Sauce

Method

Onion Ring Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Onions

Peel the large onions and slice them into 1/2 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Batter

In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the cold sparkling water until the batter is smooth and slightly thick.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

Dip and Fry the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered onion rings into the hot oil. Fry in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.

Blam Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.

  2. 6

    Serve

Serve the hot onion rings with the blam sauce on the side for dipping.
