Method
Preparing the Salad Base
- 1
Wash and chop the lettuce
Thoroughly wash the Romaine lettuce under cold water. Dry using a salad spinner or by patting with a clean towel. Chop into bite-sized pieces and place in a large salad bowl.
- 2
Prepare the tomatoes and cucumber
Halve the cherry tomatoes and slice the cucumber into thin rounds. Add both to the bowl with the chopped lettuce.
Making the Croutons
- 3
Prepare the bread
Cut the French bread into small cubes to create croutons. You will need about 2 cups of bread cubes.
- 4
Season and bake the croutons
In a large bowl, toss the bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, and salt. Spread the seasoned bread cubes on a baking sheet and bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, stirring halfway through.
Preparing the Caesar Dressing
- 5
Mix the dressing ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
Assembling the Salad
- 6
Combine the salad and dressing
Pour the Caesar dressing over the salad base and toss gently to coat all the ingredients evenly.
- 7
Add croutons and toppings
Top the salad with the freshly baked croutons, anchovies (if using), and additional Parmesan cheese.
