Mushrooms

Method

Mushrooms Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean and Prepare the Mushrooms

Rinse the white button mushrooms under cold water and gently pat them dry with a paper towel. Remove the stems if desired, but keep the caps intact.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well. Gradually add the cold water, whisking until the batter is smooth and slightly thick.

Frying the Mushrooms

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  2. 4

    Coat the Mushrooms

Dip each mushroom cap into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off.

  3. 5

    Fry the Mushrooms

Carefully place the battered mushrooms in the hot oil, a few at a time, to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Ranch Dipping Sauce Preparation

  1. 6

    Mix the Sauce

In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill, dried parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

  2. 7

    Chill the Sauce

Cover the ranch dipping sauce with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
